Ausblick Ski Policies and Safety Rules

Revised policy relative to registering of guests, modified by Board on January 29, 2007

 

AUSBLICK SKI AREA

2007-08 Code of Conduct and Club Rules

LODGE USE:

 

All skis, poles, and snowboards are forbidden in the lodge area with the exception of the basement locker area and the stairwell leading thereto.

 

Running and loud play activities are NEVER permitted in the chalet.  Parents are expected to monitor and control the activities of their children at all times. Any children who are behaving in an unsafe or disruptive manner will be asked to cease these actions immediately.

 

There should be no loitering or play activities on, in or near the storage cubicles, coat room, restroom hallway, restrooms, kitchen, basement stairwell, or basement locker room at any time

 

The chalet is for everyone’s use and enjoyment.  Members are required to clean the tables and surrounding area after use. Walk areas should be kept clear at all times and not be used for the storage of shoes, boots, clothing, coolers, bags, etc. Storage Cubicles are provided near the restrooms for this purpose. If all the tables seem to be in use, ask to join another family and share the experience. Likewise, please share empty table space and chairs with your fellow members.

 

Hand sweepers are provided to clean the carpeted areas when popcorn and other materials are accidentally dropped. Please cooperate and clean up after yourselves.

 

KITCHEN USE:

 

If you use a utensil, glass, plate, or serving dish it is expected that you will wash, dry and put that item back where you found it. NEVER leave dirty dishes in the sink.

 

If you make a mess on any surface, please wipe it up.  

 

Paper and plastic products are only supplied as a convenience. Please make an effort to bring a supply adequate for your personal needs.

 

When using the grill, always be sure to turn the exhaust fan on before cooking and scrape the grates when finished cooking. If you are unfamiliar with the use of the grill and exhaust fan, please ask the office staff for assistance.

 

Please bring any unusual or potentially hazardous situation to the attention of hill staff immediately.

 

WOOD FIREPLACE USE:

 

The wood fireplace and wood supply are to be tended by the STAFF ONLY. Members are not allowed to start or add wood to the fireplace at any time. Our fireplace is very temperamental and has a tendency to have smoke back up into the building if not properly tended. The staff has been trained in the proper procedures. Thank you for your cooperation.

 

GAS FIREPLACE USE:

 

The gas fireplace in the flex room will be lit and adjusted by staff only. It will only be lit upon request.

 

GUEST POLICY:

 

Members hosting a guest MUST be present with the guest and sign the Guest Acknowledgment Form with the guest. The host member must remain on the premise with their guest (s) at all times.

 

Any Guest under the age of (18) eighteen, must have the Guest Acknowledgment Form signed by a Parent or Guardian on their behalf. 

 

Members may have no more than (8) Eight guests at the club at any one time without the prior consent of the area manager.

 

Guest Passes must be displayed at all times.

 

Guests that engage in any prohibited activity will have their guest pass revoked immediately. Future guest privileges will be suspended for the remainder of the current skiing season. Ausblick reserves the right to refuse guest privileges to anyone indefinitely at its sole discretion.

 

Guest Passes may not be used during WJR race events being held at Ausblick.

 

The maximum number of times a person can be a guest at Ausblick in a single season is (5) five.

 

Any member found not registering a guest, who is using the hill, will be charged triple the guest fee. If there are additional offenses wherein the member has failed to register a guest during the tenure of his/her membership with Ausblick, additional penalties will be enforced at the discretion of the Board which may include suspension or termination of the member’s membership.

 

No inactive member may host any guests.

 

Any member that is aware of an unregistered guest on the Ausblick premises is expected to IMMEDIATELY bring this to the attention of area management. Failure to do so could be viewed as condoning such actions.

SAFETY:

 

All members and guests are required to visibly wear their ID passes while skiing or snowboarding.

 

Equipment must be placed in the outdoor racks when not in use. It should never be left on the ground or resting against the building.

 

Equipment left in those areas poses a danger to others and will be removed.

       

Pedestrian Traffic is strongly discouraged on the groomed snow surfaces.  When walking or climbing in the ski area, skis/snowboard should be worn. If not wearing skis/snowboard a climber or walker shall keep to the side of the trail or slope.

 

Ski/snowboard courtesy and respect for the safety of others is expected and required at all times. All members and guests are expected to know, understand and follow "Your Responsibility Code."

 

Members are responsible for the actions of their family members and guests alike. Parents are expected to educate their children and assure they understand their responsibilities and follow "Your Responsibility Code." Copies of “Your Responsibility Code’ are available from area management.

 

Children under Twelve (12) must be accompanied at all times by a member Sixteen (16) or older, who will be responsible for their actions. In the event of injury to a minor, an adult parent or guardian must be available to authorize medical treatment. In the absence thereof, area management will authorize appropriate treatment to assure the safety and comfort of the injured party.  

 

Toboggans or snowmobiles (other than staff), saucers, sleds, tubes or other downhill conveyances other than skis/snowboards are not permitted at any time.

 

Please report all accidents IMMEDIATELY to the Ski Patrol or lift attendants.

 

High speed skiing/snowboarding is prohibited on the Beginners Run at all times. Reckless skiing and

 

Snowboarding and shushing (going straight downhill) are prohibited on any run at all times. 

 

YOU’RE   RESPONSIBILITY   CODE

Always stay in control, and be able to stop or avoid other people or objects.

People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid them.

You must not stop where you obstruct a trail, or are not visible from above.

Whenever starting downhill or merging into a trail, look uphill and yield to others.

Always use devices to help prevent runaway equipment.

Observe all posted signs and warnings. Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.

bullet

Prior to using any lift, you must have the knowledge and ability to load, ride and unload safely.

TERRAIN   FEATURE   USE - KNOW THE CODE - IT’S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY     

When using the Terrain Features (ramps, rails, bumps, etc.) additional responsibilities are expected. These include but are not limited to the following:

 

LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP
Scope around the jumps first, not over them. Know your landings are clear and clear yourself out of the landing area. Always have a spotter to watch your landing area.

 

EASY STYLES IT
Start small and work your way up. (Inverted aerials not allowed - EVER).

 

RESPECT GETS RESPECT
From the lift line through the park.  
 

 

SNOW BOARD POLICY:

Snowboarders must have one foot free and unbuckled before entering the lift line. 

 

Snowboarders must buckle up clear of the chair unloading area at the top of the hill.

       

Snowboarders are encouraged to ride with only two on the chair (not triple) unless they are highly experienced riders, capable of unloading without incident.

 

Snowboarders must have their board tethered with a safety strap prior to lift use or starting downhill.

 

CHAIRLIFT USE:

 

If there are any questions over the use of the chairlift, please ask the attendant for instructions.

 

There should be no movement which will cause intentional swinging or bouncing of the chairs.

 

Please observe signs on the towers, such as "Keep Ski Tips UP".

 

Each chair has restraint bars and they must be used at all times while riding the lift.

 

Unaccompanied children must be tall enough to load and unload the chairlift without assistance. Any child not meeting this requirement must be accompanied by a parent, family member 16 years or older or other responsible individual capable of looking out for the safety and well being of that child. Any child that demonstrates an inability to consistently ride the chairlift safely will be asked to refrain from riding without assistance until the time they are able to demonstrate their ability to do so safely.

 

SANCTIONS:

 

 Members and Guests who do not comply with these rules or who repeatedly engage in unsafe, discourteous or disrespectful activities may be disciplined as follows:

 

FIRST OFFENSE: a formal warning will be given by a member of the Staff or Ski Patrol. This warning will be recorded in writing with the area management and the Board of Directors.

 

SECOND OFFENSE:  a second offense may include an immediate 7 day suspension of hill privileges (with right of appeal to the Board of Directors).  In the event of suspension, a formal conference will be required with area management to discuss the offense.

 

THIRD OFFENSE: a third offense may result in the immediate termination of hill membership by the Board of Directors with a right to appeal to the Board of Directors within 30 days of termination. In the event of membership loss, no return of unused dues will be made and the family or individual in question will not be eligible for application for membership again for a period of 3 years.

 

HILL and LODGE RENTAL:

 

The Ausblick lodge is available for rental by it Members and their Guests. This can be accomplished by talking to the General Manager. Rentals are limited and at the sole discretion of Ausblick management.
