SouthEastern
Wisconsin Adaptive Ski Program (SEWASP)
On
Saturday February 21st, 2009 Ausblick was
again pleased to host the SouthEastern Wisconsin
Adaptive Ski Program (SEWASP) for the 3rd time.
What has now become an annual event was a great opportunity
for our members to experience this outstanding program.
The program provides adaptive alpine skiing and snowboarding
lessons for people with disabilities. “Adaptive”
refers to the modified equipment and teaching techniques
used to enable skiers and snowboarders to participate safely
and as independently as possible. SEWASP provides lessons
for participants with all types of disabilities including;
motor and physical (spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy,
multiple sclerosis, spina bifida), cognitive (brain injury,
mental retardation), and sensory (blindness, deafness).
We at Ausblick commend this organization and it’s
volunteer staff for their efforts in bringing these recreation
opportunities to their participants. To learn more about
this program visit: www.sewasp.org
