I would like to welcome all our new members to Ausblick.  For new members, this is your first newsletter. The newsletters throughout the year contain useful information for the ski season.  I encourage all members to thoroughly read them.

One of the items of special interest in this newsletter is the annual ski/snowboard swap and open house that will be held this year on Sunday, October 15, 2006.  This traditionally signals the start of the new season.  It is your chance to say hello to new members and to old friends.  It is also a great opportunity to buy or sell ski and snowboard equipment and clothing.

As always, our Board continues to work during the summer and fall to plan for the upcoming ski season and to formulate options for future improvements to Ausblick.

Also, during the summer and continuing through fall, Dennis and his crew are preparing the ski runs, chair lift, snowmaking guns, groomers, lights and chalet for the upcoming ski season.  Therefore, when the snow and cold weather arrive, we will be ready.

Until then, I hope you enjoy the beautiful fall season in

Wisconsin.

The second installment of your dues payment MUST be received by October 1st.  If you have a question on the amount call Vivian at 262-781-7506.

Ski Patrol Update

Just a brief update on your ski patrol’s pre-season activities to date and into October.  As of September 20th, our new “patrollers in training” will be half way through the Emergency Care Training course.  The remainder of the patrol is scheduled to “recertify” our skills October 21st, at a full day session which will include Emergency Care, CPR, AED and Chair Evacuation Procedures.  This annual event generally starts at 7:30am and finishes well into the evening since Chair Evacuation is done after daylight.  Our policy is to be experienced in evacuating skiers “in the dark”, just in case power to the hill is lost and skiers are stranded in the chairs.

Our patrol has also updated several pieces of training and Emergency Care equipment this season, to include new CPR training manikins, equipment bags, B.P. Equipment and two new traction splints.

Lastly, our patrol actively recruits Ausblick Members to join the patrol.  If during the season you would like to find out more about becoming a patroller, please don’t hesitate to speak to Connie Cummings / Patrol Representative, Steve Payleitner / Assistant P.R. or myself for further information.  Our contact numbers are listed within the Ausblick Directory.

Website - If you haven't visited our website ever, OR lately, look again. It is a constant source of current, as well as historical (my passion), information. It is our goal to make it an important part of our means of communicating with our members, as well as affirm that we are the premier private ski/snowboard club in the Midwest, if not the country.

We are looking into possibly e-mailing the newsletter to our members in the future. It would save us postage, a few trees, AND allow us to broadcast urgent messages, like important changes in openings/closings due to unforeseen events (area power outage, mechanical problems) at the hill. If we decide to move forward, we would NOT share your address UNLESS you allow or want it! We would passionately police/control that important information. Your input on this is important to us.

One rather exciting prospect we may offer you is the opportunity to have "classifieds" posted on a dedicated page of our site. They would, of necessity, relate to ski or snowboarding activity - equipment, clothing, a ski lodge rental you might have, etc. We would reserve the right, of course, to the type and number of items submitted. We would set up an e-address for submitting your items.

Thanks to some gracious members and Steve Payleitner's connections, we have a webcam that will be mounted so that you can see if we are making snow, what the conditions might be, if/that we are open, how many people are in the lift line, who's wearing a new outfit. And, we will be installing a donated weather station so we can show you how many miles per hour the wind is blowing and from which direction, as well as barometric pressure, humidity, etc. AT THE HILL (not at the nearest National Weather Service station).

Let us hear from you - at jimstein@wi.rr.com
